FAQ's

Below you'll find a list of our frequently asked questions. If you can't find an answer below, it may mean that we haven't been asked it yet, so feel free to contact us and we'll be sure to add your question so others can get the same answers :)

Q| When should I arrive?

A| On your first appointment, aim to arrive around 10-15 minutes early. I need to go through your consultation form with you in person to make sure that everything has been read and understood (yes even if you fill it in online), after that 5 mins before your treatment time is fine. Enough time for you to arrive, get comfy and the treatment to begin.

Q| What do I wear to the appointment?

A| That is entirely up to you. You can wear something comfy, or if you're in the middle of your work day that is also fine. There is a space to leave your clothes and a coat hook as well. Please be assured that any valuables that you bring into the space will remain safe.

Q| Do I have to naked for the treatment?

A| That kind of depends on the treatment, if you're getting a full body wax, then yes you will need to be naked. There will be a light covering that will be floating around for you in this instance so you're not on display the entire time. As for massages, I don't offer happy endings so your genitals will not be handled in anyway during a massage. I will say before the massage, strip down to your undies to avoid any confusion.

Q| Can I touch the massage therapist?

A| The short answer is no. The longer answer is, the massage therapist is a professional doing a job they love. A hug at the end if you'd like would be fine, and a handshake at the beginning is also fine. If any inappropriate behaviour, you will be warned, and then if it continues, you'll be charged, asked to leave and blocked from making future appointments.

Q| I'm trans, can I stil get a massage/wax?

A| Yes 100%. If it feels nicer for you to let me know your pronouns when you arrive then that's not a problem. Please note however, if you've had recent surgery then I can't massage or wax the area until it's fully healed.

There is NO discrimination at Oak and Stone, and it won't be tollerated either to the clients or to the therapist.

Q| Is the therapist Male of Female?

A| There is only me, My name is Michael (or Mike) and I am Male using He/Him pronouns.

Q| Do I / can I talk during the massage?

A| Absolutely you can. Sometimes we talk more when we're nervous. Rest assured that we love a good chat, even if it's just about nonsense. On the flip side, if you'd just like to lay back and relax with the sounds, that is also absolutely fine. Just let us know either way :)

Q| I have a nut allergy, is this a problem?

A| Just pop any allergies on to your form and I will try my best to make sure that your treatment goes without any issues. If you think you may be allergic to something in the massage mediums we can always do a spot check whilst we're going through the consultation forms.

Q| You have Neal's Yard products on the shelves, can I buy them?

A| Yes you can, I am a Neal's Yard consultant. I have full product catalogues and you can either place an order direct with me during your visit or you can use my consultant site here: https://uk.nyrorganic.com/shop/michaelloveday

Q| Do you offer sports massage?

A| Not yet, I am looking at doing that training later this year (2026) and when it's completed I'll advertise and put that up on the website.

Q| Can I get a wax before holiday?

A| Yes you can, but chat with me first so we can get you booked in before your trip. That way then you can follow all of the aftercare advice and look your best for your trip :)

Q| I have sensitive skin, can I still have a wax?

A| I have different types of wax available to use, and we can patch test all of them if there is an issue. Alternatively you can always book in for a trimming using clippers if that would be more suitable for your skin type.

Q| Do I need to do any special prep for a wax/massage, and what should I do afterwards?

A| It's always customary to have a shower before coming for a treatment. However, if you're coming from work, on a break from work sometimes we don't have time. I do have personal wipes you can use for areas that are being waxed, to make sure that they are as clean as possible.

For after your wax/massage, the aftercare instructions will be given to you verbally, via a leaflet and also via email, so if you have any questions please just ask before you leave.

Q| Is Male waxing actually popular?

A| Male waxing has been done for quite a while now. It is especially popular for showing off tattoos, or for prepping for sports like body building and swimming. The male intimate waxing has grown more popular recently as less hair heightens sensations, making sex more pleasurable.

Q| What kind of guys get waxed?

A| There isn't any one type. Guys get waxed for a variety of reasons and those reasons will be specific for each of those guys.

Q| Will it hurt?

A| Yes, especially if it is your first wax. You're having the hair ripped out of the folicle. However, once you get into the swing of it, and come regularly then it will hurt less and less as the hair begins to thin out.

Q| What if I get aroused during an intimate wax?

A| It's a bodily function. I will not ask you to "tug one off" to help it go down, we'll just work around it. You will be tensing if it's your first wax, and that may well cause your penis to go erect. The main thing is to not worry about it. No judging here.

Q| How long does it take?

A| That depends on the treatment, and also the temperature and the type of wax being used. I have tried to put in the correct amount of time for each of the treatments.

Q| How long will the hair free effect last?

A| This varies.  There should be very little hair growth within the first 3 weeks or so, and then it may start to increase.  You should leave at least 4 weeks between appointments otherwise the hair may be too short to wax effectively.  Most men have their waxing done every 5-6 weeks.

Q| Will I need to patch test?

A| Yes please. Even if you've had a wax done before, the type of wax I use may differ from that of another therapist.

Q| Are there any conditions which mean I can't have a waxing treatment?

A| Yes there are. These are known as contra-indications. So if there are any injuries to the skin, infectious skin conditions, skin thinning, sunburn, if you're using certain medications or if you've had advanced aesthetic treatments. If you have any queries just shout :)

Q| How do I leave a review?

A| You'll get an email after your appointment asking for your feedback, and it will also have a link to leave a google review in it as well.

Q| What if I need to cancel?

A| Life happens. If you can cancel 24 hours before your appointment then your deposit will be refunded, however, if you cancel with less than 24 hours then your deposit will not be refunded.

Oak and Stone also opperates a 3 strike policy. If you are a no show on 3 separate occasions in a 12 month period then any and all future bookings made by yourself will be cancelled without hesitation or warning.
